A tiny bit of fuzz on the mirror… Some specks of fluff in the sink… Wait, did that one just move?! It looks like it has wings! A bug then? Maybe a teeny weeny moth?? Psych! It’s not a moth, but it sure does look like one doesn’t it?

Me: Tell me oh wise and Sage Leafhopper, why do you bother my plants so? Leafhopper: Why? Why you ask? You silly giant, I am hungry of course. What other reason do I need? Me: * Sigh * Yes, but why do you have to eat MY plants when there are so many others to choose from?

You can never escape. They are always there. Watching. Waiting. Sometimes hiding out and stalking you for months before making their presence known and sucking your plants dry of all their life fluids…. While these odd looking critters may look soft and squishy, they can be real tenacious menaces to your plants.

While most spiders and many mites are beneficial in the ecosystem (outside and even in your house), there are some not so good arachnids. Like the much dreaded, super tiny, nightmare of nightmares to your houseplants - the spider mite.

Are your cucumber plants looking less than green? Are you seeing spots? Or spots and stripes? On your cucumber plants that is… Yeah, me too. My poor hardworking cucumber plants. Who would have thought such tiny critters could cause so much destruction?

Does your yard or garden look like someone went around hocking loogies or spitting on everything? Mine sure does! Before you go yelling at the neighborhood kids though, you may want to consider a much, much, smaller culprit. Unless of course you were going to shout at the local hooligans anyway – then who am I to stop you? Holler away, lol. Just keep in mind these particular gloopy globs currently all over the yard are actually made by an insect!

Ugh. It’s time to break out the tick preventative again. For you dogs and outdoor cats anyway. Humans need to be a bit more creative in keeping ticks from biting them… Because the ticks are on the hunt – and they are bloodthirsty!

Remember all those boldly colored reddish-orange and black bugs that were all over the place in the fall? Hanging out in huge clusters? Well, theeey’rrre back! That is if they ever left you in the first place… And now they’re multiplying! Literally, lol.

It’s that time of year… The weather is finally starting to warm up and the early spring critters are all hatching – frogs are peeping, robins are chirping, and the ants, well the ants are searching. The ants have emerged and are now awake, on the move, and very hungry…
