<p>Well, a Jagged Ambush Bug anyway lol. Don’t worry though. These are beneficial bugs and are lying in wait for prey much smaller than you!</p>

<p>One of these things is not like the other… One of these things is just pretending… Can you tell which one is the bee and which one is the bee mimic?</p>

<p>What’s the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear “scarab beetle”? Egypt and hieroglyphics? Flesh-eating beetles that chase you when you disturb a mummy? Guess what? We have dangerous scarab beetles here in the US too. One of which is the infamous <strong>Japanese Beetle</strong>.</p>

<p>Looks like someone has been drawing mazes or abstract designs on these leaves, doesn’t it? Want to know who the artist is? The artist is actually a baby moth! Now that’s what I call a talented youngster lol.</p>

<p>In-between the summer rain showers, I found this lovely creature resting on my garden hose. This is a type of Thread-waisted wasp (taxonomic family = Sphecidae), called the Great Black Wasp, <em>Sphex pensylvanicus</em>.</p>

<p>You would think a potato beetle would eat potatoes right? Apparently, that’s just not always the case…</p>

<p>Have you ever walked by a bush, or series of bushes, and thought you heard them rustling? Or worse, sort of <em>whispering</em>?? You may not be crazy – it might be bugs!</p>

<p>We’ve all heard the stories right? Of that poor sot who was out mowing the lawn and accidentally ran over a hidden wasp nest… Well, finally I am that poor sot.</p>
